a rash of bike thefts, that is.

you know it’s summer in good old oak park when bikes start to go missing…

we saw our neighbor talking to the police today- lots of head-shaking and taking notes. of course, since we are now paranoid, i assumed that it may be garden-related. i called the neighbor after the po-po left, and nope, not about us this time.

the police came out because they received several complaints of stolen bikes from our neighborhood. at least nobody stole our veggies. i guess they didn’t want to be associated with that kind of hard core crime…

“yes, your honor. he was caught with the evidence dripping down his chin!” nothing like criminals with scruples…i swear, you can’t make this stuff up!

at least we know that some of our tax dollars are being put to good use. too bad the police don’t notice a kid running down the street carrying 6 bikes. one would think that stands out more than some tomatoes, but i am clearly not trained in law enforcement.

i hope my neighbors get their bikes back…
