TWINKLE, named by my daughter-in-law
MARISOL, my youngest daughter’s chicken
GWENDOLYN, named by my oldest daughter
RUBY-doesn’t she just look like her name should be ruby?
this is a beautiful grey americauna chicken who still needs a name- can you help? you can’t tell so much from the picture, but her markings look almost like an all grey mosaic; she is absolutely breathtaking. her face can be totally goofy at times, but at other times she is so elegant she is almost un-chicken-like. so, any ideas what i could call this girl?
this gold- laced wyandotte was chosen by *h and my youngest son, but we still can’t come up with a name. however pretty she looks in this picture doesn’t quite do her justice. her colors really pop in real life, so this lady needs a special name. i’m very open to suggestions!

Call the grey one Stonehenge. Mysterious, supernatural, but also kinda weird.

Wow, those beautiful chickens are Art!
The grey americauna: Phaeton. Elegance is her.

The gold- laced wyandotte : Hey, it’s obvious; Goldie Hawn, uh, I mean hen.
Remember Laugh-In? “is that another chicken joke?”

Call the gold one Maya – ancient civilization specializing in gold, and sun worship. Don’t know why I seem to be into the ancients today.

Feb 05, 2013 @ 17:35:40
I don’t know why but she looks like a ‘Calliope’.
Feb 05, 2013 @ 17:55:34
Aurelia (Latin for gold) for the Gold Laced Wyandotte,
Reykja (raykya) for the grey. It’s Icelandic for smoke. Elegant people, elegant, beautiful and mysterious island.

Feb 05, 2013 @ 19:47:48
Where did you find them?
Feb 06, 2013 @ 00:11:26
For the gray one (hey, when it comes to getting gray hair the operative word is “silver”
I was thinking Gandalf, but then remembered it was female, so that wouldn’t work. And she can’t grasp a staff. So it had to be a female name.
How about Mercedes?

Perfect for a chicken
Feb 06, 2013 @ 00:14:38
You do know of course that Mercedes cars were named after their creator’s daughter….
Feb 06, 2013 @ 11:03:02
Seems a little pedestrian after all the above unique suggestions, but the grey one does look like a pigeon. Or Pigeon.
Feb 06, 2013 @ 13:25:47
Wynadotte = Belle (for beauty)
Americana (whatever..LOL) = Misty (she’s a beautiful gray mist color)
Feb 06, 2013 @ 16:29:13
hmmmmmmm- we can’t do belle cuz that was my daughter’s dog, but i really like misty… we’ll throw that in the mix for sure! thanks!
Feb 06, 2013 @ 16:29:56
that’s so funny because the first name i thought was “dove” so look how on the same wavelength we are!
Feb 06, 2013 @ 16:31:21
that’s actually pretty! go, you- i will add that to the list!
Feb 06, 2013 @ 16:33:34
through craigslist- i can give you the contact info if you want. about 35 minutes away, south on I-5. a very nice teenage girl who does this as a business and had a lot to choose from…
Feb 06, 2013 @ 17:14:43
I thought she looked like a pigeon too! But that seemed like an insult to a chicken. Could call her Pidge, like Tramp calls Lady. He loved chickens – chasing them, that is!

Feb 06, 2013 @ 19:09:47
okay, i’m dying for the literary references behind these- or are they from your own stock? the bass world wants to know!!
Feb 06, 2013 @ 19:21:14
Randomly generated.
BTW, would you describe your impression of Seattle so far as “Gemeinschaft” or “Gesellschaft”?
Feb 07, 2013 @ 18:20:14
In reply to Julie; The gold laced Wyandotte just looks like a Calliope.
I could be wrong.
Feb 07, 2013 @ 20:44:01
Such beautiful chickens! I like the suggestion of Misty for the grey one (I was going to suggest Dusky, but Misty is better, and more like Seattle).
Feb 08, 2013 @ 09:31:22
pretty!
Feb 08, 2013 @ 09:33:12
i must admit, i’m kind of leaning toward that right now…
