this just proves that good intentions can lead you to some very weird places… in addition to having bad sentence structure, this ad may be one of the grossest things i have ever contemplated… and the visual seals the deal…

GROSS. That cannot be for real. Please don’t let it be for real.

Just so you know, soap recycling has been around for awhile. Here is one link that shares their story and the successes they have realized.

Just remember – what’s odd and new to you isn’t necessarily odd.
Some people might think growing vegetables in the front yard is odd….

it’s definitely for real, but will someone please proofread BEFORE posting, because:
“We are a nonprofit org that has been collecting soap from hotels to rescue it from land fills.”
sounds a lot better than what was actually posted.
Further editing could do wonders, but 2 minor corrections and NO BREAK in the train of thought makes it sound normal (at least)!!

I don’t think soap has ever made me feel so dirty. Ew. Ew. EW!

Lindsay, I wish I could “like” your comment. My sentiments exactly.
7000 lbs of used soap….sigh….

There are probably some people that would gladly take some.. It’s always best not to judge.

i find it’s always quite fun to judge
Jan 29, 2013 @ 14:12:24
yes indeed! i can see re-using and recycling your own, and i guess now that i have had ample time to reflect you would have to heat it to melt it to be able to use it again, right? but still, it just has that instant tang of OMG, ick!
Jan 29, 2013 @ 14:15:27
hahahaha- apparently we are in a minority here and this is not so strange at all… i guess it really does take all kinds of people to make a world…

Of the 7000 lbs, how much of that mass is the little hairs stuck into the soap?
Jan 30, 2013 @ 15:40:03
wow- just when i thought i couldn’t be any more disgusted… thanks for that
(hurl…)

Through the Global Soap Project, used soap can be recycled. http://www.globalsoap.org/ It is time consuming, and a labor of love. The used soap is completely “shaved” clean where it touched anyone’s body and the shavings are thrown out. What remains is pure soap that would have otherwise been thrown out. The soap is then shredded down, rebatched (remelted) into new bars of soap, and donated to those areas where soap of any kind is considered a luxury.

ok- thanks for the clarification. that makes much more sense than anything i was coming up with…
